The Central West District of the Desert Southwest Conference will hold lay leadership classes at Chino Valley United Methodist Church on Friday evening and Saturday, July 29-30.
The purpose of Lay Servant Ministries is to enlist, train, guide and support lay servants as they equip and prepare others “for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ” (Eph 4:12).
Two classes will be presented.
The Basic Course is an introductory course designed to equip new church leaders and renew current leaders in the UMC. The course introduces the three foundational focus areas of Lay Servant Ministries: Caring Ministries, Christian Leadership and Communications. This course will be taught by Jeannie Ward (of Prescott Valley UMC and Roger Harlow.
The Advanced Course, God’s Mission, Our Journey, will equip lay servants for more effective missional engagement in their communities and beyond, providing the theological foundation for mission volunteers. This course will be taught by Neil Leftwich, District Superintendent.
The cost for these courses is $30.00, which includes dinner Friday and breakfast and lunch Saturday.
